Cauliflower Patties

I absolutely love cauliflower - in all its forms.

Whether roasted, baked into a pie, or raw in a salad, its flavor is something special. The only issue? The smell! It can be intense and, at times, not so pleasant. Somehow, I’ve managed to get my daughter hooked on it too, turning her into a fellow cauliflower enthusiast, which drives my son crazy since he can’t stand the smell! 😄

These cauliflower patties are a perfect snack, and I can hardly keep them on the plate - half of them disappear before they even reach the table. They’re quick to make, with frying being the most time-consuming part.

For a quicker version, you can even use frozen cauliflower - just be sure to squeeze out all the water and add extra bread crumbs if the mixture is too soft.

The Recipe inspired by the blog "foodsdictionary"

What you need:

For cooking the cauliflower:

  • 1 medium cauliflower - about 1100 grams

  • 1 flat tsp salt

  • Water for cooking (as needed)

The patties:

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 flat tbsp self-raising flour - I use regular flour with baking powder

  • 1/2 flat tsp salt

  • 1/4 flat tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 flat tsp ground cumin

  • 1/4 flat tsp turmeric

For frying:

  • 1/2 cup sunflower oil

What to do:

  1. Break the cauliflower into small florets and cook them in salted water for about 10 minutes (make sure they don’t become too soft). Let them cool slightly.

  2. Add the eggs, mix well, and then add the remaining ingredients. If the mixture is too soft, add a little more breadcrumbs.

  3. Shape patties with oiled or wet hands and fry them in hot oil on both sides.

  4. Place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil and transfer to a serving dish.

  5. Enjoy your delicious fried cauliflower patties, perfect one by one!
